It seems that I’ve been on a roll lately, which is certainly a good news.
My husband and I were influenced by one of our friends to participate in a triathlon event this August. So with a bit of thinking about it, we have decided to start training for it.
On Monday we had our first practice that consisted of 15min swimming session and 20min running. I did good on the swimming part (although I need to learn how to breath properly), but the running part was cut short (I ran for about 10min.) that day.
Today (wednesday), we biked outside for about 35min covering a little over 6 miles.
Tomorrow, I have 20 min run to go through. Most likely it will be on a treadmill.
So… Not so long ago I went to a doctor and was sent to do a blood test. The result of the blood test revealed a diagnosis that is a possibly a reason behind my difficulties in loosing weight. The diagnisis is - I have hypothyroidism. For the next 6 weeks I will be taking thyriod medicine. Hopefully, it will help me start loosing weight sooner.
This morning I’ve read a very intersting and inspiration article written by Brandon Morgado at Dumb Little Man website. Brandon shares his way of starting with a fitness routine, dos and dont’s. In a way, I find his initial struggles similar to those of my own, and the only difference is that he’s lost 70lbs already and I have not…
Brandon’s 5 dos are very simple and attainable:
And here are the 5 don’ts:
All in all, I am going to make an effort again to loose those 50 unbearable pounds.
This past Monday I was at the 223lbs mark. I didn’t make it to the gym that day, but on Tuesday, I’ve resumed my running routine. I managed to run/walk on a treadmil for 25 minutes covering a little over 2 miles.
I plan on visiting the gym every other day.
PS. This morning (Wednesday) scales showed 219.
Well, I’ve been missing in action for an awfully long time. There were couple of things that kept my mind occupied (christmas holidays and a vacation). I am back into the blogging now, and I intend to write more frequently about my weight loss/gain in these next coming months.
Just something I stumbled on the internet today, so I thought I would spread the word. This web application is still in beta though, so you can sign up via an invite only. Daily Mile - a social training log for runners, cyclists, and triathletes. I am still waiting for my invitation though.
I was pleasantly surprised this morning. I didn’t gain any weight, but I didn’t lose any either. My weight is still 219. Based on how I ate at the Thanksgiving dinner and the day after it, I was expecting to gain a couple of pounds. So glad that it didn’t happen.
Now that one of the holiday weekends is out of the way I can concentrate better on losing more weight. Yay.
I had my first treadmill running exercise today since I started dieting. I figured since I had a relatively bad week controlling what I eat, I would step up in the exercise department. Here is my today’s treadmill workout:
It took me 30 minutes to complete this routine. The total distance was 2.41 miles.
As the time progresses and my fitness level improves, I hope to be able to sprint in the 8.0s, take less time to recover, and cover greater distances in a 30 minute time frame.
I have some serious skidmarks. Ooops. I really underestimated myself. I couldn’t stand up to the tasty pumkim, cheese, and coconut cakes…
I did manage to get on the bike for 10 mins (ONLY). And now I am making an executive decision, since this morning, my weigh in day is on Monday (to accomodate HYC or my fatty self).
Happy Thanksgiving everyone…

PS. The nut strategy didn’t work since I was chewing those as snacks non stop…
